Tagoloan Travel Adventure

TAGOLOAN is the most adjacent town of Misamis Oriental from Cagayan de Oro City to the west. Tagoloan – even though it is not yet a city – is very well-known in Northern Mindanao for a lot of reasons. One is the existence of the Philippine Veterans Industrial Development Corporation (Phividec) there. Phividec is an economic zone. Economic zones are a byword during the Ramos and Arroyo administrations but the one in Phividec has long been in existence during the Marcos era.

Because it is an economic zone, a lot of factories have sprouted there, to name a few, the Philippine Sinter Corporation and Steag State Power, Inc. It is also in this reason that the largest container port in the country outside its capital, Manila, is located here in Tagoloan.

More than an economic zone, Tagoloan has a lot that nature can offer. Recently, the Tagoloan river rapids have been discovered and for the past five years or so, a few people have started flocking the area to try whitewater rafting.

Of course, Tagoloan is also largely credited as producing one of the most brilliant minds in town, Vicente Emano. Emano was mayor of Tagoloan who rose to governor of Misamis Oriental, mayor of Cagayan de Oro City and now its vice-mayor.
