Sugbongcogon Travel Destination

SUGBONGCOGON is a quiet unassuming coastal town in eastern Misamis Oriental, the northern gateway to Mindanao, the second largest island in the Philippine archipelago. But beyond its humility, Sugbongcogon has lots of tourist spots to offer.

First of all, there’s the tranquil rural upland of Sugbongcogon. Even if the place is deprived of electricity, you will really enjoy the barrios especially at night. The fireflies numbering by the hundreds will surely dazzle you. Add to that are the hospitality of the locals. They will surely accommodate you complete with native wine (they call it there as tuba). But if you don’t like its taste, there’s still the conventional beer.

But the newest attraction in Sugbongcogon is the Manti-anak Wildlife Park. There are many species of wild animals you can see here in person that you’ll only find in Discovery Channel elsewhere. There are caged tigers here. There are also various species of colorful birds.

Sugbongcogon is also a recipient of an Asian Development Bank (ADB) project, the Infres. Infres is actually a farm-to-market road project so every nook and corner of this sleepy town is already paved. If you want to enjoy going to Sugbongcogon, then better ride its motorcycles called habal-habal.
