CAGAYAN de Oro City used to be part of Misamis Oriental. But with it becoming a charter city sometime after the Second Great War, Misamis Oriental was stripped of an urban city and thus even to this day, there are admittedly no shopping malls in this beautiful province which is the northern gateway to Mindanao.

Yet what lacks in urbane stuff, Misamis Oriental has lots of rural appeal – there are abundant native crafts splashed from the eastern to the western seaboard of the province. There’s the Salay Handicrafts in Salay of course. And there’s the Puyo Handicrafts. These are some of the shopping gems that can be found in the province.
