Jasaan Travel Destination
JASAAN is a humble town in Misamis Oriental, the gateway to Mindanao from the north and the most progressive region in this side of the country. Jasaan grasped the spotlight as far as Visayas albeit shortly when it was featured in a Cebuano radio play all over Visayas and Mindanao sometime in the late 1980s. The great Cebuano voiceover actor Fermin Collantes-Gomez portrayed the role of the main character and Jasaan’s mayor Redentor Jardin was greatly honored that his town is now known all over Visayas and Mindanao.
There are lots of tourism spots in Jasaan but the most serene of them is Agutayan Island. It’s actually a sandbar but is preserved and maintained by the town government. Vandalizing the place such as throwing candy bar leftovers and empty soda cans are strictly prohibited. Here, you can sunbathe around in your bikini or even go commando without inhibitions because tourists are being booked exclusively by groups. The water around the Agutayan sandbar is crystal clear and you can snorkel all you want. This is certainly the freshest seawater you can find in this part of Mindanao.
Inland, there are dozens of springs which have been frequented since the 1980s not just by the locals but even by foreigners.
